The Assistant Vice Chancellor, Finance and Controller has campuswide responsibility for the oversight of accounting activities and financial services. All external financial audits by federal, state or other regulatory agencies are coordinated through the Office of the Controller.
Audit and Advisory Services coordinates internal audits, reviews, and investigations on campus as approved by the UC Berkeley Committee on Audit, Internal Control and Financial Accountability.
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is the liaison between the campus and regulatory agencies for research compliance issues.
The Office of Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) is the liaison between the campus and regulatory agencies for environment, health, and safety issues. If an inspector from a regulatory agency arrives unaccompanied by an EH&S staff member, the administrative official should contact EH&S. Every attempt will be made to have an EH&S staff member present during an inspection.
Administrative officials are responsible for cooperating fully with the auditors or inspectors, ensuring that requested documentation is promptly made available, and communicating completely with the audit coordinator should issues arise.
