Title VI

Prohibits discrimination based on race, color or national origin at any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. Records must be maintained on racial and ethnic composition. Grievance procedures must be adopted and published, and the college's policy on nondiscrimination must be prominently included in announcement bulletins, catalogs, and application forms. 

Title IX (Students)

Prohibits gender discrimination in any educational program or activity that receives federal funds. 

Non-Discrimination Notice Requirements

The regulations implementing Title VI, Title IX, Section 504, and the Age Discrimination Act all contain notice of non-discrimination requirements for private colleges and universities. 

Fulbright-Hays Act

Regulates foreign exchange students and scholars. 

FERPA

Regulates the keeping and dissemination of *education records* at all institutions that receive federal funds or who have students receiving federal funds. Procedures must be in place to allow a student access to education records. Consent must be obtained to release education records to a third party, with certain exceptions contained in the law. 

Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act of 1994

Reporting and Information Dissemination Requirements This law applies to a coeducational institution of higher education that Participates in any title IV, HEA program and Has an intercollegiate athletic program.

Campus Sexual Assault Victim Bill of Rights

The sexual assault provisions of the Campus Security Act require each institution of higher education to distribute as part of the Campus Security Report, a statement regarding the campus sexual assault prevention programs….. 

Age Discrimination Act of 1975

Prohibits discrimination on the basis of age (minimum or maximum) at private institutions that receive federal financial assistance.
